Background
The Estonian Association of Landscape Architects (EMAL) lacked a digital platform that truly reflected its public mission. The legacy website was heavily inward-looking and confusing to navigate, as it served primarily as an internal portal for members. Instead of promoting the discipline to the outside world, key information remained hidden from external audiences.
Objective
The goal was to transform EMAL’s digital presence into an inviting, outward-facing platform that educates and engages a broader audience, from policymakers to community enthusiasts. Key design challenges and solutions included establishing a targeted information architecture by defining and mapping distinct user journeys for target groups.
A clear categorization and filtering framework was designed to seamlessly showcase member portfolio projects. This was all tied together by architecting an intuitive relational content logic that linked members, their portfolio works, and connected studios into a cohesive digital experience.
